Great pod as always... kudos for not only possessing the ability to think critically for yourself, but to do so as objectively as possible and not be scared to share your thoughts openly. F**k those people who give you s**t about it.

When the attempt happened, I was also on vacation. A buddy texted me the picture and said that Trump is a lock to win now, and after my intiial confusion wore off and I searched the internet to confirm the picture wasn't AI, my first thought was the same as yours... That picture is just too perfect. I mean you can't look at it without pausing for a second or it evoking some sort of emotion. It's possibly the most iconic photo since the Iwo Jima picture.

I'm not saying it's for certain a hoax by the Trump team, but the little that I've learned in my adult life is to practice being skeptical, bordering on a fault. It seems to me that the two likeliest scenarios are that it was real and that there were other actors involved, be it the Secret Service/police/DNC/RNC, or it was a hoax by the Trump regime, and it's worth it to either have a discussion about it, or to ponder it for yourself, imagining how either scenario would work out.

I really don't need to belabor all the oddities of the attempt that don't smell right, as you went over them well enough. What's troubling to me though, is that I am not as hopeful about the general populus as I was a week ago. After Covid, I was of the belief that people are waking up to the blatant propaganda, but after Ukraine/Israel/Climate Change/Biden Gaffes/and now this, it's absolutely clear that people are only ever awake to what makes sense for which team they're on, red or blue. The vast majority of people are incapable of hearing the other side of any particular issue. We're hooked on this s**t.

I texted/talked with a few Trump supporters that I know afterward, and they're just appalled when I mention that it's possible that it was an elaborate hoax... They can't even consider the possibility. It's as if they put their fingers in the ears and start humming, in an effort to not to hear the blasphemy.

I just don't get it. To me the whole concept is foreign. My whole life, I've loved arguing so much that to the point I'll sometimes argue a side that I don't even believe in, just to play "devil's advocate." Part of it is fun, but deeper it's healthy and necessary for the sake of being able to critically think for one's self.

On that note, I am very skeptical of J.D. Vance. He just strikes me as very likely a CIA/FBI spook. The career arch of his book deal fresh out of Yale Law (where basically all the spooks go) is tough to believe. Then for the book to enter and remain in the Best Sellers list for that long, then adapted to a movie by Netflix with a big director and popular cast seems artificial. To be fair and honest, I've never read the book and I don't plan to (Did read Three-Body Problem though! excellent. Just started the Dark Forest)

I spoke to a friend of mine who is a three tour Marine to see if he knew him which he did not, but he called him a "Super POG" (Personnel Other than Grunt) and that he essentially played for the JV squad the whole time.

Vance was part of a venture capital with Peter Thiel and Mark Andreesen, whom the latter is now supporting and funding the Trump campaign while the former already has for years. On top of that, he has like three different legal names, which is odd. Finally, he's been fast tracked from Senator to VP nom, and all of this he has managed by the age of 39. Even the beard seems phony which he didn't have a few years ago, modeling the every-man-populist.

He just seems to be a potential "controlled opposition" type, and one people should be skeptical of. Of course though, most of the conservative liberty loving types are all on board, now. Again, whatever is good for the team, I guess.

Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

P.S. Lions tackle Penei Sewell got married and in some of the pictures he posted, he was wearing a Satoshi Nakamoto shirt. Let's hope he bought a lot with his new contract.

Thanks Tony -- much appreciated. Interesting points on Vance, kind of parallels Obama's fast-tracking too. Very hard to know if any of these people are real at this point. Have the same feeling about Vivek too, like where the fuck did he come from suddenly?

Might have to acquire some Lions futures now that I know this!

Vivek also went to Yale Law haha. I agree... listened to him on a few pods... I've never heard someone sound more like a used-car salesman than him. He seems fraudulent but not even good at it.

I wanted Trump to pick Tulsi... she also could be fake but seems the most likely to be genuine, if nothing else because she keeps getting passed over by both sides.

Always room on the Lions bandwagon!
